WHOPPER – AT 10:18 A.M. ET:  President Obama was on the radio this morning, giving the annual commemoration of the 9-11 attacks.  Most of the address was boilerplate "we remember" stuff.  But a couple of things stood out as peculiarly obnoxious.

We took the fight to al Qaeda, decimated their leadership, and put them on a path to defeat. And thanks to the courage and skill of our intelligence personnel and armed forces, Osama bin Laden will never threaten America again.

Not him personally, but his ideas and the ideas of his "brothers" threaten us every day.  Guess the computer dropped that line.

Instead of pulling back from the world, we’ve strengthened our alliances while improving our security here at home. As Americans, we refuse to live in fear. Today, a new tower rises above the New York skyline. And our country is stronger, safer and more respected in the world.

Yeah, ask allies like Britain, Poland, and Israel.  And we are not more respected.  In fact, respect for the U.S. has fallen in the Arab world since Obama took office.  The Iranian freedom fighters, whom we abandoned, and the Syrian rebels, whom we refuse to help, must really love us.

I have always said that America is at war with al Qaeda and its affiliates — and we will never be at war with Islam or any other religion.

As Andrew Malcolm asks at IBD, "But what if some Islamists are at war with us?"   That question is never answered by this president.

We brought an end to the Taliban regime. We’ve trained Afghan Security Forces, and forged a partnership with a new Afghan Government. And by the end 2014, the transition in Afghanistan will be complete and our war there will be over.

What a crock.  It was President Bush who brought an end to the Taliban regime.  Now they're back in force, and it's no secret that we're trying to negotiate with them.  What a lie.  And those Afghan Security Forces are the very ones whose members turn on Americans and murder them.  We will withdraw from Afghanistan in 2014, but our war won't be over.

Not exactly what we're looking for in a president, is it?  But too many Americans may be taken in.  Obama's basic campaign is, "We'll send you checks, and withdraw from those silly foreign fights."  Appealing, sadly.
