SHORT TAKES ON THE DRIFTING WRECKAGE – AT 6:34 P.M. ET:

LATEST POLLING – Obama continues to edge up slightly in new polls just released.  However, we note once again that these polls reflect immediate reaction to Hurricane Sandy, and may have a slight tilt.  In the RCP average, Obama leads by half a point, with about three percent still undecided or voting for some odd guy.

STATE STUFF – A new Iowa poll, by the Dem polling outfit PPP, shows Obama up only two points.  This contrasts with a five-point lead in the Des Moines Register poll.  And in Massachusetts, one of the final polls shows Elizabeth (I'm braver than Tonto) Warren up only four points over Scott Brown.  In her latest outrage, Warren claims she has photos that prove her Native American heritage, but that she will refuse to show them.  Nothing like transparency.

BRASS KNUCKLES FROM THE BRASS – The Daily Caller reports that Romney leads Obama more than 50-1 in endorsements by retired flag and general officers.  The Caller could find only seven retired admirals or generals endorsing Obama, and that includes the increasingly disappointing Colin Powell and former Democratic presidential contender Wesley Clark.
